Assam: Prohibitory Orders Clamped in Kaliabor After A Tiger Was Spotted Prowling Around

NAGAON: Due to threat looming in the area posed by a tiger that entered an area with two cubs, prohibitory orders have been imposed in Assam’s Kaliabor, reports that emerged on Wednesday said.

The orders were clamped after the tiger was spotted at a tea garden in Silghat area of Kaliabor and prowling in the area. However, so far there are no reports of anyone being injured.

Although no injury or fatalities have been reported, the district magistrate has imposed Section 144 CrPC that prohibit the movement of people near and within the area as a precautionary measure, apprehending a threat to human life, cattle and other domestic animals,

Until the tiger and the cubs are captured, the prohibitory order shall remain in force.

Local people alleged that the forest department is yet to take any action or make efforts to capture the animals.

Earlier, on March 5, a tiger was spotted near a tea estate area in Kaliabor’s Silghat, when the big cat entered a resort in search of drinking water.

A man at the Kaliabor Manor Resort had captured a video on his mobile phone of the tiger pulling on a water pipe .

At that time also, there were no reports of the tiger attacking anyone, however, the residents near the area were under threat due to the sudden visit of the big cat,.

In a latest incident reported on Tuesday, a seven-year-old boy died after being attacked by a tiger in Assam’s Dibrugarh district,

According to sources, the tragic incident took place at Satispur Tea Estate in Namrup where the minor boy was attacked by a tiger that claimed his life.

On Monday night, the body of the deceased was found in the tea estate.

Earlier, in January, a minor boy was seriously injured in a leopard attack that occurred in Assam’s Sivasagar district.

The incident reportedly happened at Aboipuria Nara village in Amguri.

The victim boy, identified as Ujjal Gogoi, was attacked by the leopard when he was playing in the vicinity of his house.

It was suspected that the leopard might have been straying in the village in search for food, sources informed.

The boy was later admitted to a hospital in Amguri for medical attention and doctors said that he would recover.
